It’s Official

Kanye West outsells 50 Cent. Will 50 retire?

I think not. The money is too good. You have to tip your hat to the two of them though for breathing some life into mainstream hip hop by making album sales relevant again. The friendly and competitive statements issued by these two artists remind me of the angry and ultra competitive exchanges between Death Row Records and Bad Boy Entertainment in the 90s.

The public loves controversy.

Whenever something is in the news and immediately jumps into your morning conversation at work, there is someone sitting in a marketing department office stroking their beard with a grin on their face. Genius Publicity sells buzz. Buzz generates into cash sales. Kanye and 50 are enjoying major buzz right now.

Congratulations Kanye!

Chocolate Rain

Honestly, I have no idea why this is so popular.

Is there something I am missing? He sounds like Darth Vader a little. I could imagine him with a cold and in his left hand he would be holding a light saber.

However, I do like John Mayer's version of the song:

Flirting with Investors

Thursday evening I made a pitch to some wealthy investors in regards to one of my projects. My partner and I were looking for an investment in the ballpark of $500,000 for the startup costs involved with our project. I'll admit, I really do not have much experience when it comes to this type of sales pitch. By the end of the night, the investors were not ready to invest. It was a no. One of the investors wanted to see where we would be in 2-3 months, and from there further assess if investing would be reasonable.

I came away from the meeting feeling invigorated and reaffirmed that my partners and I are on a good path.
